Should I send a thank-you note after every interview round?
Yes, send a brief thank-you email after every interview round – first round, second round, final round, and even informal coffee chats. Each interaction deserves acknowledgment. First round: Send within 24 hours. Keep it brief (3-4 paragraphs). Thank them for their time, mention something specific discussed, reiterate interest, and reference next steps. Address each interviewer individually if possible. Subsequent rounds: Similar structure but can reference previous conversations: ‘After our first conversation about X and today’s discussion of Y, I’m even more excited about…’ You can be slightly briefer in later rounds if you’ve built rapport. Final round: More detailed and enthusiastic. Reference the full interview process, specific people you met, and strong desire for the role.
