Is a one-page resume still the standard in 2026?

Yes, for most job seekers a one-page resume is still the expectation. Recruiters spend about 7 seconds scanning, so a focused one-page resume often outperforms a longer one.

When is it okay to use a two-page resume?

If you have 10+ years of experience, extensive publications, or are applying for senior/executive roles, a two-page resume is acceptable. Otherwise, stick to one page.

How do I fit everything on one page?

Prioritize your most relevant experience, use bullet points instead of paragraphs, trim older or irrelevant jobs, and use a clean template with efficient spacing.

What font size should I use for a one-page resume?

Use 10-12pt for body text and 14-16pt for your name. Section headers can be 12-14pt. Never go below 10pt — if you need to, cut content instead of shrinking text.

Should I remove older jobs to fit on one page?

Yes. Jobs from 10+ years ago can be summarized in a single line or removed entirely unless they're directly relevant to the position you're applying for.

What margins should a one-page resume have?

Use 0.5 to 1 inch margins on all sides. Going below 0.5 inches makes the page look cramped and may cause printing issues.

Can I use columns to save space on a one-page resume?

Two-column layouts can save space, but be careful — some ATS systems struggle with multi-column formats. Test your resume with a free ATS checker before submitting.

How do I write a one-page resume with lots of experience?

Focus on your last 10-15 years, consolidate similar roles, use concise bullet points, and remove anything that doesn't directly support your target role.
