1. Safety First — Literally

2. Certifications Get Their Own Section

Create a prominent Certifications section near the top. OSHA, NCCCO, PMP, LEED, trade licenses — list them with dates. Certifications never go in the education section.

“Heavy equipment operator” is vague. “Certified excavator operator (CAT 320, Komatsu PC210) — 8 years experience” is specific and credible. Include manufacturer and model numbers.

9. Address Project Types

Ground-up vs renovation. Commercial vs residential vs industrial. New construction vs TI. Vertical vs horizontal. Specify what you’ve done. A GC hiring for a hospital build needs someone with MEP-heavy experience.

10. Keep It Simple
